Kevin Ashby turned the clock back to his glory years this week when he knocked in a wonderful break of 107 to re-capture the form he used to show on a regular basis. Playing for Windows Warehouse against Blossom Way B in the Premier Section he was paired against Phil Robinson and after winning his first frame, he let loose in the next, just breaking down when missing the yellow with a possible 134 on. Ivan Harvey added a further 2-0 to the score before John Leyland and John Cribb shared their frames with John Potterton and Alex Burnett to give the Windows a 6-2 victory.
Leaders John Roe Toyota beat Clee Home Guard B 6-2 when Jamie Green and John Parker both won two and Paul Metcalf and Jamie Richardson won a single each against Ian Crosby and Steve Fisher.
Simon Devaney Builders A pulled a frame back on the Motors when winning 7-1 at Clee Bowls X. Kev Ratcliffe shared the opening two frames with Craig Waddingham before Ashley Wright, Andy Rouse and Craig Rowbotham, who made an excellent clearance of 90, won all the rest.
John Morton of G. S. N. Westlands won the first two frames against LES Engineering but that was their lot as Paul Clark, Paul Smith and Nige Emmerson all won 2-0 for the Engineers in a 6-2 victory.
2-0 wins from Jamie Barrett and Karl Krajnyak together with singles from Gary Skipworth and Steve Bloomfield gave Clee Cons A a 6-2 against Flor Pro.
Also winning 6-2 were M. J. Decorators and their 2-0’s came from Daz Potter and Frazer Jones. Picking up the singles were Dean Richardson and Mick Forward who shared with Steve Topham and Tom Walker.
Don Noble Bookmakers won 5-3 at West End A when after Craig Taylor, Mark Stevens and Ian Sadler had all won a single, Jon Steel won the last two frames.
In a battle at the bottom end of the table, Ocean Sea Foods (UK) beat Hainton A 5-3 when Jack Stinson, Kev Cowdroy and Mike Rouse all won a frame and Dean Reynolds won two. During the match, Ray Hammond had the misfortune to have his tip come off and was very grateful to Jack who took his cue away and fixed it.
The top match in Section A saw leaders Beertrix Trotters entertain Clee Cons and after Brian Bridge won the first two frames for the Cons, and Mark Goss shared with Andy Leworthy, the Trotters came back to win the match 5-3 when Steve Donner and Danny Reynolds won the last four frames.
Healing Mens got back to winning ways when Dave Burton and Drew Winship both won 2-0 and Terry Lloyd won a single in a 5-3 victory at Cambridge H.
The Wellow won by the same score against Carr Lane E when Mick Ponsonby and Graham Challis both won two and Andy Aisthorpe won a single against Stu McLellan. Ryan Johnstone won the other two frames for the CarrLaners.
West End B are in with a chance of promotion if they can keep up the sort of form they showed at Ray Edmonds H. Martyn Shaw and Paul Taylor both won 2-0 and Dave Lawson and Andrew Warner hit singles against Liam Oswin and Shaun Wilkin in a 6-2 victory.
This score line was repeated when 2-0’s from Chris Taylor and Dan Webster and singles from Dave Page and George Bartlett gave Hainton B the win against Laceby Manor.
A three man Cromwell C team went down 5-3 at Clee Bowls D when Ray Charlton shared with Chris Tuck and a 2-0 from Bob Camfield equalled a 2-0 from Terry Burns.
An opening 2-0 from Danny Harrison was cancelled out by a last board 2-0 from Leon Milner as Blossom Way A came back to draw 4-4 with Cue World Dreamers.
Carr Lane D were completely bowled over by Clee Bowls A when Roy Ling, Tony Eglin, Jeff Dyball and Mick Chew all won 2-0 in an 8-0 slam.
Laceby RBL A played host to promotion hopefuls Cue World Destroyers in Section B and left their opponents in tatters after thrashing them 8-0. Dave Powell, Andy Barry, Daz Stansfield and Matty Clayton were the 2-0 winners for the leaders.
Clee Bowls B were given a scare at Clark Self Drive when a 2-0 from Mark Rimmer and singles from Mick Gowen and Mike Clark against Reg McGregor and Steve Parker put the home side 4-2 up. Brian Hotson rescued a 4-4 draw for the visitors when he won the last two frames.
Nats were at Stamford Snipers and unfortunately we cannot report on the match, as the score sheet is late.
Stamford Homes B lost 5-3 at Steve Austwick Garden Services when Lee Staveley and Rob Welford both won 2-0 and Steve Austwick won a single against Chris Brown. John Baker won the other two frames for Stamford.
Phoenix A lost by the same score at the Hospital Club against Westlands A when visitors Nige Mumby, John Ford and Alec Cowie all won a single and Byron Hatfield won two.
Ray Edmonds Jubilee put up a fight at home against Standard A when Jim Drury, Terry Kerley and Dave Hobbins all won a single. It wasn’t enough though as a last board 2-0 from visitor Mick Silver gave Standard a 5-3 victory.
Clee Bowls C drew 4-4 at South Bank when a 2-0 from Harry Crampin cancelled out an earlier 2-0 from Alan Wortley.
Clee Bowls Police beat Ray Edmonds K 6-2 after Dick and Shaun Cook both won 2-0 and Rog Lockwood and Dave Copley won singles against Mike Crooks and Alan McIver.
Cabbies took leaders Grimsby Police for a ride in Section C after beating them 6-2 at the Police Station. The scene was set when Ian and Steve Singleton won the first four frames for the visitors and the result complete when Geoff Downing won the last two frames.
Cromwell Comets didn’t fair much better as they lost 5-3 at home against Bargate B. Jack Bradshaw and Fred and Lee Neul all won a frame and Steve Neul won the only 2-0 in the match.
Millfields A beat Grimsby Police A 5-3 when Mike Caborn and Tony Pearce both won 2-0 and Tony Avison scored a single.
Ray Edmonds J called the tune in their home game against Road Runners when 2-0 wins from Adam Gladding and Phil Briggs plus singles from Andy Smith and Daz Kaveney gave them a 6-2 victory.
T. R. Carpets won by the same score when Alan Burns, Dave Morley and Rick Gilliatt all won 2-0 in reply to a 2-0 from Hasbeens Win Rose.
Standard Under 40’s hammered The Unusual Suspects 7-1 as Dave Bird, Steve Metcalf and Keith Birkett all ran out 2-0 winners and Adam Metcalf shared with slam-saver Rich Clubley.
2-0 wins from Tony Miller, Geoff Davis and Ian Grice and a single from Scott Grice against Roy Wilson gave Grimsby Fireplace Centre a 7-1 at Healing Legion.
Single set wins from Brian West, Dave Bunn and Kev Armstrong and a 2-0 from Gerry Howes gave Birds Eye a 5-3 victory at Bargate A.
Cuedos took an early lead against Section D leaders Willow Casa when Daz Edwards won the first two frames. Andy Williamson levelled matters up and after Rick Kirk had shared with Andy Barlow, Steve Cowdroy won the last two frames for Casa to give them a 5-3 victory.
Jase Sanders shared the first two frames with Mick Bird before Lee Singleton, Terry Haigh and Mark Smith all won 2-0 as Ray Edmonds N beat Phoenix B 7-1.
2-0 wins from Rick Francis and Richard Caunt together with singles from Matt Jones and David Taylor gave Novartis a 6-2 victory at Standard B.
Birds Eye B gave themselves a real shot in the arm for a promotion place when beating Ramsdens Home Interiors 7-1. 2-0’s from Paul Grayson and Simon and Wayne Douglas, and a single from Leigh Hydes against Chris Dunham did the trick.
Cromwell Car Care grabbed all the points against Rock Bottoms when Paul Taylor, Jason Acquorff, Pete Keeble and Clive Brummitt all won 2-0 against their plucky opponents.
